Future Artists in Exile - Unconference and Picnic!

With social and political idea's in a state of flux, what effect does this have on the artists, story teller's, and the creative minded in this new media age?

With communities via the world-wide web, solving problems by creating tools both in the online and offline worlds, and with mass communication via social networks, meaning that 'stories', and the experiences of humanity, are now reaching way beyond the campfire.

does this make the old way of working in media still relevant today?

what is the alternative, is there one?

And what effect does this 'new wave' of thinking have on the institutions built FOR the creative communities in the north west.

With the likes of Media City, BBC North, Vision and Media etc, budgets cut, redundancies looming, all on the eve of a technological and creative revolution, with new story telling tools such as 3D, social media, and transmedia storytelling taking route, can the old way of 'doing' keep up? and if so how?

are we on the eve of something new? and what do YOU think this could look like, and what skills can YOU bring to YOUR community?

Join the conversation NOW on TWITTER using hashtag #futureartists and join in the conversation at the Unconference/ open forum debate on Saturday July 17th at the Zion Arts Centre, if there is sunshine, we are going to take the unconference outside, and picnic, bring a blanket, bring food to SHARE.....

Its time to leave exile and join us, without deviation from the norm... progress is not possible' Frank Zappa
